Hello! My name is Marcela.
I am a DONA certified doula (2018), a CAPPA certified childbirth educator (2021), and a Perinatal Wellness Professional. In addition, I am trained in Spinning Babies, TENS unit, lactation support, birth justice, and trauma-informed care. I guide mothers during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum through a holistic lens.
Through these various roles, I see myself as a trail guide. Developing a relationship of trust and respect, where you can be vulnerable and feel completely comfortable is of utmost importance to me. I consider myself a traditional birth worker. I am passionate about women taking back their power in their birth space and home birth. I love empowering women to tap into their instincts as they birth and transition into motherhood, whether for the first or seventh time.
I was born in Guatemala and speak English, Spanish, and French. One of my dreams is to witness physiological birth in various parts of the world, particularly to learn from traditional midwives in Latin America. I have traveled to over 40 countries and in addition to birth work-related passions, I also enjoy learning about cultures, nature, health, and cooking/baking nourishing foods.
My background is in Elementary Education, and I was a fifth grade teacher when I decided to devote my time exclusively to birth work, which I feel is my calling in life. It is such an honor to have worked with families, children, and babies for over 16 years.
